Testing for your module and operating conditions

Liquid Cooling Module Testing and Reliability

We leak-test liquid cooling products before shipment and plan additional pressure, thermal, aging and environmental checks for your project. The sample, test conditions and pass criteria are agreed before testing.

Choose the Test That Matches the Risk

Match each test to the question you need answered, then define the sample, setup and acceptance criteria.

Test areaQuestion it can answerInputs still requiredWhat it does not prove by itself
Leak / air tightnessWas leakage detected under the agreed check?Assembly state, method, medium, condition, duration and criteriaLifetime sealing or a universal pressure rating
PressureHow did the module behave at the specified pressure and duration?Load profile, medium, duration, sample and acceptanceThermal performance or service life
ThermalDid the identified build meet the target operating point?Load, coolant, flow, temperatures, ambient, mounting and measurement pointsPerformance in every customer system
Aging / temperatureHow did the sample respond to the defined exposure or cycle?Risk, sample quantity, cycle, duration and failure criteriaA lifetime or 7×24 reliability claim

What to Include in a Test Plan

Agree these six items so the results can be assessed against your product requirements.

01

Test sample

Exact product, sample and revision.

02

Assembly state

What is installed, filled and connected.

03

Method

How the characteristic will be checked.

04

Conditions

Loads, medium, temperatures and duration.

05

Pass criteria

The result that counts as pass or fail.

06

Record

Required data, identity and approval format.

Have a test specification or internal acceptance target?
Send the current revision, conditions, criteria and required record.

Leak, Pressure and Thermal Tests Answer Different Questions

Leak tests check sealing, pressure tests check behavior under pressure, and thermal tests measure cooling performance under specified conditions.

Leak test

Looks for leakage in a defined assembly state.

  • Method and medium
  • Condition and duration
  • Detection and acceptance rule

Pressure test

Checks the module under a specified pressure, duration and test medium.

  • Specified load
  • Hold or cycle
  • Behavior and pass/fail rule

Thermal test

Measures temperatures under a defined heat load, coolant flow and operating environment.

  • Load, coolant and flow
  • Inlet and ambient temperature
  • Mounting, fan and pump state
  • Measurement points and steady state

Aging and Environmental Testing

Operating-aging and high- or low-temperature tests check module behavior under an agreed exposure or cycle. The duration, sample quantity and failure criteria depend on the intended use.

Test Records and System Validation

Records identify the tested module, conditions and results. Final equipment testing then confirms how the module performs after integration.

What the record should preserve

  • Module, revision and assembly state
  • Method, setup, conditions and equipment identity where relevant
  • Raw or summarized result and acceptance decision
  • Anomaly, repair or retest status

When a result misses the criterion

  1. Stop and identify the affected sample
  2. Check the sample and setup
  3. Record the deviation
  4. Review cause and affected design or process
  5. Agree revision, retest or closure

Module testing

We record module results against the agreed factory test setup and acceptance criteria.

Customer-system validation

The customer confirms the final server, workstation or equipment configuration with its actual workload, coolant, environment, service sequence and regulatory responsibilities.

Both module and complete-system results matter.

Testing & Reliability FAQs

Is every liquid cooling module leak tested?

Yes. We leak-test liquid cooling products before shipment. The assembly state, method, medium, pressure, duration and acceptance criteria are defined for the applicable product.

What is the difference between leak testing and pressure testing?

Leak testing looks for leakage under defined conditions. Pressure testing evaluates behavior at a specified pressure and duration. One test does not automatically establish the result of the other.

Which conditions are needed for thermal testing?

Define heat load, coolant, inlet temperature, flow, ambient conditions, mounting and interface material, fan and pump state, measurement points and the steady-state rule.

Can aging or temperature testing prove product lifetime?

Aging and temperature tests provide results for the specified sample, duration and exposure. A service-life prediction requires a suitable reliability model and supporting data; passing one test alone does not establish lifetime.

Does factory testing replace validation in our final system?

No. Factory testing records product behavior under agreed conditions. The customer still validates the complete system, actual workload, coolant, environment, service sequence and regulatory requirements.

What information is included in a test record?

The agreed record identifies the module and revision, method, setup, test conditions, results, pass/fail decision and any repair or retest status.
